RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris visited Raleigh Tuesday afternoon with key messages related to health care in America.

The two spoke at the Chavis Community Center at John Chavis Memorial Park in downtown Raleigh.

Both Biden and Harris went after former president Trump and Republicans in congress, saying they will push to undo the changes made through the Affordable Care Act.

The visit on Tuesday coincided with the recent anniversary of passage of the Affordable Care Act, as former President Donald Trump has said he wants to try again to repeal it if he wins the November election.

The White House said the goal of their visit to the capital city was to contrast Biden’s plan with what Republicans would do with regard to health care.

A group of House Republicans released a budget proposal last week, calling for raising the retirement age for social security and making changes to Medicare.

Biden on Tuesday highlighted steps the administration has taken to lower prescription drug costs for seniors and incentivized states like North Caroline to expand Medicaid coverage.

In response to the President’s speech, the Republican National Committee said Trump will win the state of North Carolina for a third time this year and said families are “suffering” due to issues like inflation and the crisis at the border.
