President Biden jokes to dinner guests if you're disoriented or confused, you're either 'drunk or Marjorie Taylor Greene'

President Joe Biden made a jibe at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during his speech at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night, suggesting the lawmaker was "confused."

"I want everybody to have fun tonight but please be safe. If you find yourself disoriented or confused, it's either you're drunk or Marjorie Taylor Greene," Biden said.

The Georgia Republican has repeatedly courted controversy for making often outlandish statements, including saying that children should be "trained with firearms," suggesting school shootings were staged, and backing conspiracy theories regarding "Jewish space lasers" and QAnon.

During Biden's State of the Union address in February, the lawmaker repeatedly heckled him from the back of the House chamber, shouting out that he was a "liar."

A representative for Greene did not immediately return Insider's request for comment, which was made outside of normal working hours.

The annual black-tie dinner, which government officials, journalists, and celebrities attend, gave the president a chance to flex his comedic muscles as he poked fun at perceptions of himself and his political opponents.

Along with several wisecracks at the expense of Fox News, Donald Trump, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the president also acknowledged criticisms of his age.

"You might think I don't like Rupert Murdoch. That's simply not true. How could I dislike a guy that makes me look like Harry Styles?" the president joked.

Along with various lighthearted jokes, the president also made an ardent defense of journalism, noting that it is "not a crime" and calling for the release of imprisoned journalists worldwide.

This year marked the first time the annual dinner returned to its full form since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The dinner was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the virus, and Biden gave a speech but skipped the dinner portion of the event last year as a COVID precaution.

While presidents typically attend the event and give a humorous address, former President Donald Trump bucked tradition and did not attend the dinner while he was in office.
