Pre-trial conference for Hornerstown homicide continued

EBENSBURG, Pa. – A pre-trial conference scheduled for Tuesday for Michael Lyles in front of Cambria County Judge Michael A. Carbonara was continued.

Lyles is accused in the shooting death of Kandace Mervin in July 2023 shortly after police escorted him from her residence in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown following a domestic dispute.

He’s been charged with criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person and tampering with evidence.

Court documents show Lyles’ next status conference is scheduled for July 19 with another set for Sept. 13.

Lyles is incarcerated in Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg without bail.
