Powerball jackpot pushes past $1 billion mark after no big winners on Saturday

The new Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed from $960 million to $1.04 billion. The fourth-largest Powerball jackpot in history failed to produce the six winning numbers in last night's drawing. To claim the jackpot Saturday, a ticket had to match the five numbers - 19, 30, 37, 44, 46 - as well as the Powerball number 22. The Power Play was 2X.

The Saturday drawing resulted in over 2.5 million winning tickets nationwide. Among them were five tickets that matched all five white balls, earning their owners $1 million each. Those tickets were produced in Florida, Maryland, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, two tickets sold in Indiana and North Carolina won $2 million each because they included the Power Play prize multiplier. Wednesday night also saw several significant wins, including 55 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and nine tickets that won $100,000 prizes.

Winners in Delaware

Delaware was one of the states that sold two winning tickets, each worth $50,000. Both tickets matched four numbers plus the Powerball. Many more Delaware tickets won a set cash prize of $100 or less.

Winning big Monday night

The next chance to win the estimated $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot is on Monday. The lucky winner of that drawing will have to decide between accepting a lump sum payment of $478.2 million or an annuitized prize estimated at $1.04 billion, both before taxes. If the annuity option is chosen, the winner will receive an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each increasing by 5% every year.
