Power restored for more than 1,000 Duke Energy customers in Scotland County

SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — Duke Energy has restored service to more than 1,000 customers who lost power Tuesday afternoon in Scotland County, the utility said.

The outage affecting 1,050 customers began at about 2:30 p.m., according to the utility’s website. The outage was the result of fallen trees and branches that damaged equipment.

The utility initially said on its outage website that crews had been assigned to make repairs, but that service was not expected to be fully restored until about 6 p.m.

The outage affected customers in East Laurinburg, Laurinburg and areas in the county as far north as the Wagram area.
