Postcard Inn to host informational meeting over expansion plans in St. Pete Beach

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Yet another St. Pete Beach hotel is exploring expansion opportunities, as the Postcard Inn On The Beach is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday about its growth plan.

The Postcard Inn is the latest in a series of hotels along Gulf Boulevard to begin the steps toward development. The Miramar Beach Resort hosted its neighborhood meeting last week, and within the last couple months, both the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort and the Sirata Beach resort got approval from the city for expansion.

However, neighbors showed up en masse to multiple city commission meetings to oppose the TradeWinds proposal, saying it was too much development for a city they wanted to remain ‘quaint.’

Given that turnout, it’s expected a number of residents will show up to Wednesday night’s ‘Informational neighborhood meeting to discuss a Conditional Use Application for the expansion of the Postcard Inn.’

Renderings and blueprints show the façade of the hotel facing Gulf Boulevard getting a facelift with a new sign and updated entrance.

According to the preliminary site plan, the proposed expansion would add 87 more rooms in three levels, a covered walkway between buildings and more than a two story parking garage.

It appears that expansion would eliminate the small strip and businesses next door, and add a beach access path along the side of the hotel.

Wednesday’s meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Postcard Inn, but it is just informational, so there won’t be any commissioner debate or voting.
