Portsmouth Social Security office to temporarily reduce in-office service

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth Social Security office will temporarily reduce in-office services while the building undergoes roof maintenance.

Officials said the reduction in services will be place from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3, and office hours will return to normal on May 6.

Scheduled telephone appointments will not be affected by the maintenance. Express walk-in services will be provided for those needing to make changes to their Social Security cards or any other dire need.

Anyone who needs to visit the Social Security office in person can stop by one of the following Social Security offices:

  • Norfolk – 5850 Lake Herbert Drive, First Floor, Norfolk, VA

  • Suffolk – 502 Hillpoint Boulevard, Suffolk, VA

Social Security office hours are from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
