Portland Pilots women’s basketball NCAA Tournament bound after beating Gonzaga

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The University of Portland women’s basketball team clinched the West Coast Conference championship with a Tuesday night victory over Gonzaga, sending them to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

The Pilots lost to GU by 50 points just two weeks ago.

An Emme Shearer three-pointer from gave the Pilots a 67-64 lead late in the game and a desperation three just before the buzzer fell short for the ‘Zags.

With the win, UP clinches back-to-back WCC Tournament titles for the first time in program history.
