Portion of SH 64 shut down in Rusk County after head-on crash between semi-trucks

RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – State Highway 64 in Rusk County is shut down Friday morning due to a head-on crash between two semi-trucks.

Officials said the roadway is shut down from Loop 571 to County Road 424, and the crash happened just after 9:30 a.m. The sheriff’s office estimates traffic will be blocked for the next hour.

“There is extensive damage and a possible fatality so we will not be sharing any more details at this time,” the Rusk County Emergency Management and Fire Marshal’s Office said.

According to authorities, Texas Highway Patrol will be conducting an investigation and EMS has transported one person.

Texas DPS, Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson Fire, Carlisle VFD and New London VFD responded to the scene along with the Fire Marshal and OEM Support Director.
