Portion of Concord Turnpike open after water main break, detour lifted

UPDATE 6:53 P.M. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)– Lynchburg Water Resources reports the main water break has been repaired and water has been turned back on.

The department reports the Concord Turnpike will remain closed as crews work to backfill and restore the road.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The City of Lynchburg says a portion of the Concord Turnpike is closed after a water main break on May 22.

Crews with the Lynchburg Water Resources are working to repair the break and a detour has been set up for drivers.

The city says residents and businesses in Downtown Lynchburg may experience discolored water. To resolve the issues, customers should run the cold water for three to five minutes until it is clear. At this time, the city says to not use any hot water.

If the water remains discolored for longer than five minutes, call Lynchburg Water Resources at (434) 455 – 4250.
