Portia de Rossi is OK with Ellen DeGeneres divorce rumors: 'Now we're finally accepted'

Portia de Rossi isn’t fazed by rumors that she and her longtime love, Ellen DeGeneres, are divorcing. In fact, the Arrested Development star has a great outlook on the whole thing.

“The divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions [of same-sex marriage] had changed,” the 45-year-old actress tells Us Weekly. “I’m not kidding. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, ‘Oh, now we’re finally accepted.’ We get the same s*** as every celebrity couple.”

The Scandal actress is used to being at the center of false headlines. “I thought, ‘Wow, this is great that I’m pregnant, not pregnant, divorced, not divorced, whatever,’” she added. “That means there is an acceptance for this.”

De Rossi, 45, and the 60-year-old talk show host will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in August. Still, the actress finds the whole tabloid thing bizarre. Case in point: a made-up story about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. (Spill the tea, Portia!)

“I was at a newsstand … and there was a cover of Brad and Jen,” she said. “I literally just stared at it, and I was like, ‘They haven’t seen each other. … How is this even a thing? I know for a fact.’ … I actually took a picture of it and sent it to Ellen and said, ‘Can you believe this?’ Anyway, no, in other words, we avoid it. We don’t care.”

It’s probably an easy thing to avoid when the whispers aren’t true.
