Port Adelaide goes top in AFL

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Lance Franklin kicked two goals for Sydney in the last quarter of his first match against his former team Hawthorn, helping to lift the Swans to a 15.17 (107) to 13.10 (88) win that knocked the Hawks from the top of the Australian Football League.

Franklin was inaccurate early, kicking seven successive behinds, but found his range when it counted and made a vital contribution to Sydney's fourth-straight win. He had 21 possessions and 10 marks and his tally of 2.7 accounted for the 19 point difference between the teams.

Port Adelaide surged to the top of the table with a 13.16 (94) to 11.10 (76) over Fremantle, its seventh win from eight games. The Power trailed for much of the game, but used their trademark finishing burst.
