Popular Rochester bakery to close for much of summer

Goodman Bakes, a popular bakery at 248 East Ave. next to the historic Little Theatre, has announced that it is closed temporarily through August 1. Owner Lucas Santiago said the closure is for health reasons.

Samtiago originally launched Goodman Bakes as a home-based online bakery just before Thanksgiving 2020. A bright, airy brick-and-mortar store followed in June 2022. It is known for gorgeous pastries, cakes, breads, scones, cookies and pies as well as delicious savory slab pies, sandwiches, salads and more.

"Everyone has been so supportive and kind," Santiago said. "I'm so thankful to be part of such a wonderful and caring community."
