Popular Nashville dessert chain dishing up peach cobbler details Charlotte expansion

Charlotte will have a tasty new option for dessert this summer when The Peach Cobbler Factory opens in Steele Creek.

The Peach Cobbler Factory will debut at Whitehall Corners, 8506 S. Tryon St., broker Steve Conner of Conner Commercial Properties told The Charlotte Observer exclusively. The center is across from the 180-acre Ayrsley Town Center mixed-use development off Interstate 485.

The store is expected to open by late June or mid-July, said Peach Cobbler co-franchise owner Paul Foster. Both the company and franchise are Black-owned, he said.

The Nashville-based dessert chain offers a dozen flavors of its namesake peach cobbler, as well as other desserts.

The space for The Peach Cobbler Factory

The Peach Cobbler Factory will open a nearly 1,400-square-foot space for takeout only, Foster said.

Its neighbors include Hahne Eye Center, Pizza Hut, which opened last year, and a recently opened prepaid-only phone Verizon store in the former T-Mobile spot that closed during the pandemic.

It’s the first stand-alone store of this kind in the Charlotte metro area, Connor said.

Peach Cobbler customers will be able to walk-in, call-in, or use the store’s app for delivery through a party.

Foster expects to hire up to 12 full- and part-time employees. The store also will offer catering, he said.

The Peach Cobbler Factory offers a variety of cobblers, banana pudding, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls and waffles.

The Peach Cobbler Factory menu

The Peach Cobbler Factory menu has several types of desserts:

12 cobbler flavors are each served warm in an 8-ounce cup topped with ice cream. Flavors are: peach, honey apple, cherry, blackberry, strawberry, cinnamon praline, mango peach, strawberry peach, caramel apple, blackberry peach, apple walnut raisin and sweet potato pecan, according to the company website.

12 banana pudding and pudding shakes, including classic, Butterfinger and red velvet.

12 types of cookies like salted caramel, chocolate cherry cordial and snickerdoodle.

There are also a variety of brownies, cinnamon rolls, churros and Belgian waffles.

Topping Foster’s list of favorite flavors is the pecan peach cobbler. “The main thing I like is the desserts are hot, and they come served with ice cream,” he said of the cobbler.

The backstory

Foster worked in the corporate world as an engineer for 22 years before becoming a franchise business owner. In September 2021, Foster and wife Kasha opened KP Mart Shell branded gas station at 2736 Freedom Drive in Charlotte.

After seeing his sister’s success opening Michigan’s first Peach Cobbler store in Canton in September 2023, Foster partnered with Nathaniel Frye to become franchise owners in Charlotte.

Foster said they will open another store next year in the Waxhaw area.

Foster and Frye’s mothers had been co-owners of a bakery in Michigan when they were young. “Now after they have passed away their sons are opening a joint restaurant,” said Foster, who moved to Charlotte in 2008 and lives in Steele Creek.

About The Peach Cobbler Factory

Charlotte had its first taste of The Peach Cobbler Factory in 2020 when a ghost kitchen opened at 500 W. Summit Ave. in South End. But that location has since closed, Foster said.

The chain has three other locations in the Charlotte area in Cornelius, Gastonia, Indian Trail and Indian Land, S.C.

Founded 11 years ago, The Peach Cobbler Factory has 165 franchise locations open or planned in 20 states, according to the company’s website. There are nine stores in North Carolina and six in South Carolina.
