Summer is still more than a week away, but a black bear looking to cool off didn’t let official dates hold her back when she decided to sneak into two backyard swimming pools in a well-to-do Los Angeles neighborhood on Wednesday.

“Look closely. A BEAR right now in La Canada!” Linda Queally wrote when she posted a photo of the suspect to Instagram.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported getting several 911 calls Wednesday morning about a bear roaming La Cañada Flintridge. Minutes later, some Los Angeles television news stations were live with aerial video of the splish-spashing bear as the cops closed in.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife officers tracked the bear to an affluent neighborhood, where she waded into the shallow end of another pool.

Authorities were trying to get the animal back into its habitat, but the bear climbed a tree and was still in a standoff with cops early Wednesday afternoon.

KNBC-TV reports that a tag could be seen on the bear’s ear, indicating it’s been caught and released previously. Repeat offender?
