RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — If it was a match up right now between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, new polling suggests a majority of votes would go to Trump in seven key swing states.

The latest CBS 17/Emerson College/The Hill poll found that Biden trails Trump in North Carolina as well as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

In each state, there was a percentage of respondents who weren’t quite certain yet.

For North Carolina, 47% support Trump, 42% support Biden and 10%—enough to really tip the scale for either candidate—remain undecided, poll data shows.

“The share of undecided voters has reduced and Biden gained ground in Georgia and Nevada, narrowing the gap, while Trump has maintained a slight edge on Biden in the swing states,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said.

Another key finding in the poll released Tuesday is that when third-party candidates appear on the ballot, support is pulled away from Biden more than it is from Trump in the five states of North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

A digital livestream show Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. will break down a long list of more questions covered in this latest poll.

The stream—which will be on the top of the CBS 17 homepage at 10:30 a.m.—will feature appearances by officials with Emerson College Polling, The Hill, WOOD in Michigan and WHTM in Pennsylvania.

More questions answered by poll participants include:

  • Is Trump’s criminal trial appropriate in seeking accountability or is it a “witch hunt?”

  • Do you approve or disapprove of the job Joe Biden is doing as president?

  • If Trump is found guilty in the NY criminal trial, how does that impact your likelihood of supporting him for president in 2024?

  • How motivated are you to vote in the 2024 presidential election?
