Rahul Gandhi is soon to be elevated to the position of president of the Congress party, India’s oldest political establishment that seems to be struggling of late for direction and electoral success.
At a meeting of the Congress Working Committee on Monday, a decision to make Rahul the official leader of the party was taken after all state bodies passed unanimous resolutions towards the same.
The notification for the Congress President poll – which is a mere formality – will be issued on December 1, with voting for the post to take place on December 16 and the counting on December 19.
