Former President Donald Trump could win Indiana for the third time in the 2024 November presidential election, if the results of a new poll released Thursday hold true.

Emerson College Polling and The Hill found 55% of registered voters in Indiana support Trump for president while 34% support President Joe Biden. About 12% of registered voters were undecided.

The poll surveyed one thousand registered voters in Indiana between March 2-5 and reported a margin of error of 3 percentage points, according to a release.

The Emerson poll reflects Trump’s history of success in Indiana in the last two presidential elections. In 2016 and 2020, Trump carried Indiana over Biden and Hillary Clinton with about 57% of the vote.

Likely Republican primary voters were also asked about their support for Trump and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley before she ended her presidential campaign Wednesday.

About 78% of Indiana’s likely Republican primary voters support Trump while just 14% supported Haley, according to the poll. About 4% of voters surveyed supported another primary candidate while 5% were undecided.

The poll also asked voters about the upcoming May Republican gubernatorial primary. Sen. Mike Braun leads that race with support from 33.6% of those surveyed.
