Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (March 3)

Broward County’s top athletes had memorable performances to win state titles and even wrap up stellar careers last week.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, March 7, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Brayden Allison, Flanagan, baseball: Allison struck out 18 batters, allowing one hit and threw a complete game shutout against Coral Springs. The left-hander also added a pair of doubles at the plate during a 9-0 win.

Niko Benestad, Stoneman Douglas, baseball: Benestad belted two home runs and drove in three runs to power the Eaglesto a 12-0 run-rule victory over West Broward in the Tier 1 bracket championship of the BCAA tournament.

Christina D’Agostino, St. Thomas Aquinas, softball: D’Agostino, a junior shortstop, went 5 for 10 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 5 runs scored in wins against Cooper City, Somerset Academy and a loss to West Broward.

Enrico Borio, North Broward Prep, boys basketball: Borio finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles in a 56-55 triple overtime loss to St. Pete Gibbs in a Class 4A state semifinal.

Jovani Solis, Somerset Academy, boys wrestling: Solis completed a stellar undefeated season with a 11-4 victory over Johnathan Moder of Naples First Baptist at 132-pounds, finishing with a 63-0 season.

Luis Perdomo, South Broward, boys soccer: Perdomo scored a goal in each of the Bulldogs’ victories at state including the game-winner in the second overtime in the 1-0 state final win over Viera.
