Politicians often find themselves derided by the public, but in Australia, memes from The Simpsons are used to criticise them.

That's what Facebook page The Simpsons against the Liberals has been doing for sometime now, mocking the conservative Liberal party — as well as other parties including Labor, The Greens and One Nation — with references from the hit TV show.

While popular, the page has mostly gone unnoticed from politicians. Until Andrew Laming from the Liberal National Party started kicking up a fuss on the page.

It all began when the Facebook page posted a comment by Laming on Thursday, alongside a picture of Grampa Simpson complaining on a typewriter.

Laming was pushing for less teachers in physical education, but more for maths instead. And for unions to be forced out of schools.

So then Laming took to the comments section on Saturday, spending his day getting into a slanging match with people on the page.

Laming even revelled in "mashing" the people on the page in his "spare time," although the Facebook post is now deleted.

Soon after, people started sending in their own memes making fun of Laming's weekend tirade.

This is politics in 2016, folks.
