Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has conceded that Russian special forces could be responsible for the burning of a retail mall in Warsaw earlier this month, but urged people not to speculate until the investigation was completed.

Details: Commenting on the status of the investigation into the fire in the Warsaw shopping centre, the president of the Polish government encouraged people not to speculate "about which of the incidents in Poland are possibly the result of the activities of foreign services, in particular Russian and Belarusian."

However, he notes, "the activity of Russian services, especially those that collaborate with Belarusians, is high, and one should not delude oneself."

"Today, we have the right to assume – this may be the wrong word, but we are following the strings – that the Russian services are tied to the higlh-profile fire on Marywilska Street, and the investigation is ongoing," Tusk emphasised.

The Prime Minister of Poland committed to keep the public updated on the investigation's progress, and he also announced state support for entrepreneurs affected by the fire.

On 12 May, a massive fire broke out at Warsaw's shopping centre. Tusk previously stressed that no evidence suggested a foreign involvement in this occurrence.

It should be noted that this is not the only case of arson in European countries, and some states, particularly Lithuania and Estonia, have publicly presumed that Russia is responsible in similar cases.
