Police: Wrong-way driver causes serious crash in Commerce City

DENVER (KDVR) — The Commerce City Police Department said a serious crash that sent two people to the hospital Saturday appeared to be the result of a wrong-way driver.

The crash happened near 72nd Avenue and Quebec Street. Quebec Street was still closed as of 7:35 p.m.

Both vehicles had a sole occupant. Police said the driver of the SUV that allegedly caused the crash was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, and the driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area as debris is all over the roadway and an “extensive investigation” is underway.
