Lockdown lifted at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police lifted a lockdown at Howard University in the U.S. capital on Tuesday after finding no sign of a reported gunman on the campus, authorities said.

Officers had shut down streets near Howard, a private university with more than 10,000 students, to investigate the report.

All buildings have now been cleared, according to the university's Twitter account.
