Police track down family of young boy discovered in Portland

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) — For the second time in less than a week, Portland authorities were called out to help a child found alone in the city.

According to the Portland Police Department’s Facebook post from 1:28 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, officers responded to the area of Highway 52 and Gateview Drive after a child, estimated to be about 3 years old, was discovered.

The boy is nonverbal, but police said he was safe with them.

Then, at 2:13 p.m., officials updated their post, saying the family had been located.

No additional details have been released about the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance or discovery.

This news comes just three days after Portland law enforcement responded to a report about young boy walking along Gibson Street alone. His parents were located within a couple of hours.
