According to Lt. Rene Gonzales with Michigan State Police, officers with the Michigan Department of Corrections Parole Absconder Unit were in an unmarked vehicle watching a suspect who was a passenger in a different vehicle on the 1700 block of Waverly near Saginaw.

Gonzales said the officers began following the suspect on Waverly when that vehicle stopped and the suspect got out and fired shots at the unmarked vehicle. The vehicle was hit but no person was injured. Officers did return fire and it’s not known if anything or anyone was hit.

The suspect got back into the vehicle and was chased by officers to the parking lot of a plaza at the corner of Saginaw and Waverly. This is when the suspect got out and ran. The driver of the vehicle the suspect was in also left the scene, according to police.

State police said the suspect is Marcus Oglesby, 31, from Jackson. He is described as being 6 feet tall.

Oglesby was wanted out of Jackson on a warrant for home invasion and fleeing and eluding police.
