Police shooting shuts down road in SF’s Bayview neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police activity Thursday afternoon shut down a road in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (SFDEM) said. Officials told the public to avoid the area of Jennings Street and Carroll Avenue where a police shooting occurred.

An officer fired at least one gunshot at a man with a firearm, the San Francisco Police Department said. The suspect did not suffer any gunshot wounds.

However, the suspect was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after SFPD used less-lethal use of force to take him into custody, the department said.

As of 8:30 p.m., the roads are now back open, and the scene has cleared, SFDEM said.

Video from the Citizen App (above) shows police tape surrounding the area.

SFDEM first posted about the alert at 3:35 p.m. The police shooting remains under investigation.
