Police seeking driver involved in fatal hit-and-run crash that killed pedestrian in CT

Police are seeking the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Waterbury over the weekend that killed a pedestrian.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a four-door 2003-2007 Honda Accord that allegedly took off from the scene of a crash on Saturday just after 2:10 a.m. on Chase Avenue, according to a statement issued by Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.

The Honda may have front-end damage and may be missing its driver-side mirror, Bessette said.

According to Bessette, investigators believe the Honda was involved in the crash that killed 46-year-old Dwayne Hunter of Waterbury. Hunter was found at the scene suffering from injuries before he was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police late Monday released multiple photos of the Honda that they believe was involved and have asked for the public’s help identifying the driver.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
