Police identify suspect in Huntsville apartment shooting that injured woman

HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) says they are searching for a man after a woman was shot Monday at a Huntsville apartment complex.

The department said officers were called to Hunters Ridge Apartment just after 4 p.m. Monday for a shots fired call in connection with a domestic incident.

HPD Capt. Jonathan Ware said a woman was shot twice during the incident at the apartment complex but she was able to get outside and drive herself to the hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening according to HPD.

The shooter was identified as 27-year-old David Evans.

Authorities said when officers arrived they were not able to find Evans and spent several hours checking the complex to see if he was there.

Ware said the department does not currently know where he is, but HPD is in the process of getting warrants for Evans’ arrest.

“Any information is helpful at this point,” he told News 19’s Lynsey Smith on the scene. “Even though we know who the offender is…ultimately, we’d like to make sure he can be convicted”

Ware said this is an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public at this time.
