Police: Sawmill stolen in Van Buren County

WAVERLY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a portable sawmill.

The mill was reported missing from a home on 41st Street near 47th Avenue in Waverly Township. Investigators believe it was taken at some point Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

The mill is attached to a gas-powered T.A. Schmid band saw. The sawmill is made with metal tubing and is approximately 23 feet long and 4 feet wide.

Investigators believe it may have been moved using a trailer or towed directly behind a vehicle.

“This machine is very unique and cannot be purchased locally,” the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Deputies are asking for information from anyone who may have seen this item being moved or may see it in the area.”
