Police: Sackets Harbor man drove vehicle off boat launch while following GPS

May 1—SACKETS HARBOR — A Sackets Harbor man told police that he drove his vehicle onto the village's boat launch and then into the lake at about 2 a.m. Monday while following GPS instructions.

State police said Jake R. Kahoe, 26, was driving west on West Main Street when his GPS told him to make a right turn. Troopers said that he failed to see the boat launch and drove into the lake.

No injuries were reported.

Kahoe was given citations for operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and leaving a motor vehicle unattended.

State police responded with Sackets Harbor Fire Department and Derrigo's Service Center, Watertown, to help get the vehicle out of the water.
