Police Respond as Fence Pulled Down at Portland Federal Building
Protesters pulled down fencing surrounding a federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon, as demonstrations continued there for a 59th night on July 25.
Footage posted by Griffin Malone on Twitter shows protesters using ropes to pull down fencing outside the Mark O Hatfield Courthouse. Tear gas was deployed shortly afterwards, they said.
Oregon Live reported that federal authorities estimated approximately 5,000 people had gathered earlier that night.
Portland Police declared a riot declared a riot shortly after the fence was taken down.
They ordered protesters to disperse and warned that those who failed to comply with orders “may [be] subject to arrest citation or crowd control agents including but not limited to tear gas and/or impact weapons.” Credit: Griffin Malone via Storyful
