Police release names of 2 found dead after standoff

GOSHEN — Police have released the names of a man and woman found dead inside a home at 104 Huron St. following a two-hour standoff with police.

Sabrina Lieb, 30, and Elisha Smith, 36, were identified Thursday by the Goshen Police Department after relatives were contacted. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit continued its investigation into the shooting, the report said.

Police were dispatched to the home at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday after receiving notice about a victim with an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers were made aware of a male subject and two children in the home.

The male subject displayed a weapon and, as officers retreated, they removed both children, the report said.

Officers began communication with the subject and the Elkhart County Regional SWAT team was called in to assist. After negotiators lost contact with the subject, the SWAT team entered the home and found the victims.
