Witnesses say teens crash car in Montgomery County neighborhood, prompting police presence

Witnesses say a group of teenagers crashed a car in a Kettering neighborhood, then left the scene Saturday evening.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, the owner of the 2017 black Acura SUV said her vehicle was stolen.

“I’m mad, because it’s like, why are you going into people’s places?” the owner said.

The owner said she had been without a car for almost a week.

“Tuesday morning at like, 7:30…When we got ready to, you know, we’re getting ready to take my daughter to school, we realized it wasn’t there,” she said.

Since then, she said she has been borrowing a vehicle from her father.

Kellye Jackson told News Center 7′s Malik Patterson that she was outside enjoying the weather when the SUV crashed into a parked car.

“This black Acura SUV came speeding down the street in a 25-mph speed limit, but they had to be going 50 or 60 miles an hour,” Jackson said. “We heard screeching tires, and then boom.”

Jackson said as soon as the car crashed, she ran over to help.

“I started to run down the street to try to see if I could, you know, help anybody,” Jackson said. “I got to this tree right here and there were five young men probably age 15 and below, one of them was…so short. They came running this way.”

Jackson said all but one of the teens ran away. The one who didn’t was allegedly stopped by the owner of the car that was hit.

“I found myself saying to him, ‘Are you hurt? Come on, baby, sit down,’ you know, the mom in me came out because he did have some visible bruising on his legs,” Jackson said. “And I was like, ‘Let me call your mother.’”

Around 6 p.m., Kettering police responded to the 2000 block of Walford Drive.

News Center 7 crews went to the scene and saw at least 5 police cruisers, one of which had a person who appeared to have a teenager sitting inside.

The owner of the black Acura said officers called her and told her what happened.

“I was hoping that we’re going to find it, you know, abandoned somewhere, but not like that,” the owner said.

News Center 7 has reached out to Kettering police for more information but has not received a response.
