Police: Palestine man arrested after attempted removal of washing machine

PALESTNE, Texas (KETK) – The Palestine Police arrested one suspect after they were found allegedly attempting to remove a washing machine from a residence.

According to the Palestine Police Department, at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday an officer was patrolling the 300 block of South Jackson Street when he observed an individual identified as Daimean Simien, 19 of Palestine, exiting a residence that had previously been burglarized.

Officials said that Simien attempted to evade officers by running into a nearby residence, but he was later located and detained.

The Palestine PD said that once questioned, Simien said he had entered a residence at 309 S. Jackson St. and attempted to “remove a washing machine without permission.” The police department said that the property had ‘no trespassing’ signs posted.

According to police, they searched the area at the residence and located a washing machine, a dolly and tools that were used to make a forced entry into the residence.

Simien was booked into the Anderson County Jail and charged with criminal trespassing and burglary of a habitation.
