Police: Maryland man arrested for Springfield ‘street takeover’

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said a man from Maryland was arrested for his involvement in the “street takeover” situation that happened on Easter.

The Baltimore County Police Department worked with FCPD to arrest Brandon Extecoc Santos, 20, of Parkville, Md. on April 19.

The “street takeover” happened on March 31. Police said a “large group of people” gathered at a commercial parking lot in 6600 block of Electronic Dr. around 3 a.m. There, officers saw a large group of people “driving recklessly and in circles.”

When police tried to intervene, the group surrounded them, started jumping on an officer’s cruiser and banging on the windows. One person tried to pull off a license plate.

The entire takeover resulted in an officer getting hurt.

FCPD said Santos was charged with abduction, assault on a law enforcement officer, wearing a mask in public and obstruction of justice.

He was being held in Baltimore County in Maryland while waiting to be extradited to Fairfax County.
