Police: Marshall man sentenced to 7 years for pointing firearm at officer

MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) – The Marshall Police Department announced that a man arrested for pointing a firearm at an officer during a search was sentenced to seven years in prison after a jury trial.

According to Marshall PD, Demarcus McCowan was sentenced to seven years in prison after a jury trial for the charges of aggravated assault against a public servant and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to officials, in March of 2023 the Marshall PD Special Response Team was executing a search warrant at 812 Navajo Trail when the lead team member entered a room of the residence and encountered McCowan pointing a handgun at him. Marshall PD said that McCowan was taken into custody without any injury to himself or officers.
