POLICE: Man arrested after threatening people with butcher style knife in Kilgore

KILGORE, Texas (KETK) – The Kilgore Police Department said a man was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault on Tuesday night after allegedly threatening people with a large butcher style knife.

According to the police department, officers responded to downtown city park after getting reports that a man was actively threatening people with a knife.

Officers confronted the man who then refused to comply to orders, officials said.

A corporal with the police department reportedly proceeded to use a “less lethal launcher” to hit the man and get him in custody.

“We want to commend newly promoted Cpl. Isbell for his actions last night. His use of this less lethal device quickly brought this situation under control without having to resort to higher levels of force,” the police department said.
