Police say suspect threatened to shoot student at KCK middle school

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is searching for a suspect who threatened to shoot a student at an area middle school.

KCK Public Schools tells FOX4 Gloria Willis Middle School, previously Coronado Middle School, was put on “Hold Status” during the incident.

KCKPS police are also on scene along with KCKPD who is providing support with their K-9 unit.

The suspect ran in the wooded area next to the school off 64th Terrace, near Parallel Parkway, according to the school district.

The school was dismissing students at 2:55 p.m. when it became aware of the threat and held remaining students, according to KCKPD. The remaining students were released just after 4:30 p.m.

The person who made the threat has not been arrested as of Thursday night. KCK police tell FOX4 that the perimeter around the school has been lifted and there is not an active search for the suspect.
