Police looking for men involved in Hickory Hill shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are searching for four men they say are responsible for trying to rob a man in Hickory Hill.

The incident took place early Sunday morning near a shopping center on Winchester Road. Police say it all started with a parking space and ended with gunshots, luckily no one got hurt.

Surveillance video shows a man waiting for a parking space just before 3:00 a.m. That’s when he spotted a Nissan Sentra about to pull out.

While he waited for the car to leave, four men got out of the Sentra and attempted to rob the man, the police report says.

According to police, the victim told the thieves he didn’t have anything, but the suspects pulled a gun with a glock switch and tried to steal the victim’s watch.

When he tried to take off, the suspects fired shots. The victim was able to get away unharmed, but his car was struck and his his front tire popped.

After the incident, the suspects can be seen driving out of the shopping plaza.

Unfortunately for Hickory Hill residents, crimes like this are not unique.

On New Year’s Day, three victims were robbed at gunpoint in the same parking lot.

One of the victims was pistol-whipped and had their belongings taken.

“A lot of the young people these days, they don’t have any job, they don’t have any directions,” shopper Andre Adjahoe said. “It’s like [when] we talk about the Kia boys that are stealing Kias and all this type of stuff, it’s real bad. It’s getting real bad out here. Times are not getting any better, but my response is that I wish they would just stop. I really need them to stop because it’s not good.”

Police are still searching for the men responsible for the shooting and ask that if anyone has information, they call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
