Dallas police are searching for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice following a major car accident on Saturday night, according to Dallas television station WFAA.

The TV station — a partner of McClatchy’s Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper — cited sources saying police believe one of two speeding vehicles involved in the crash on North Central Expressway in Dallas was registered in Rice’s name.

Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said the accident took place around 6:25 p.m. Saturday after drivers of a Chevrolet Corvette and Lamborghini were speeding in the far left lane. The drivers “lost control” according to Lowman, with the Lamborghini hitting the center median wall, which caused a chain-reaction collision with a total of six vehicles.

WFAA obtained dashcam footage of the incident, showing two cars driving on the left shoulder before the accident.

Lowman said occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette “all ran from the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or providing their information.”

Two other drivers, Lowman said, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Two people in a different vehicle were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Lowman said the investigation and identification of suspects was ongoing.

WFAA reported Saturday night about a multi-vehicle crash on North Central Expressway, showing video from the scene afterward while saying traffic had been backed up for several hours while the highway was shut down.

As of Sunday morning, Rice did not appear on Dallas County jail logs.

Rice — a North Richland Hills, Texas native — was honored at the 101 Awards last week in Kansas City with the Mack Lee Hill Award, given annually to the Chiefs’ best rookie.

A second-round pick out of SMU in 2023, Rice led all Chiefs wide receivers with 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He also had 26 postseason receptions, which set an NFL record for a rookie.

In the last two weeks, Rice has often joined new Chiefs receiver Hollywood Brown and quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Texas to work out ahead of the 2024 season with Mahomes’ trainer, Bobby Stroupe.
