Police: At least 30 vehicle break-ins Monday night in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins that took place Monday night.

Police said at least 30 victims have reported their vehicles were broken into.

According to NNPD, most of the break-ins occurred near 30th Street, but some were reported as far south as 61st Street.

Many of incidents were reported in parking lots used primarily by Navy and Newport News Shipyard personnel. NNPD says it is working with the Navy and Shipyard to enhance security in the area.

Newport News detectives are asking anyone who had their vehicle broken into but have not reported it to police to call the NNPD non-emergency line at 757-247-2500.
