NOKOMIS, Ill. (WCIA) — Police in a Montgomery County town are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide that happened Friday night.

Talon Burton, the Chief of Police in Nokomis, said officers were dispatched to the town’s Dollar General at 10 p.m. for a report of shooting victims. They found two people shot when they arrived.

One was identified as 22-year-old Summer Eller, a store employee. She was already dead.

The other was identified as 46-year-old Justin Devaisher. Burton said his wound was self-inflicted and he later died at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Burton said Devaisher was Eller’s estranged boyfriend. It appears that he entered the Dollar General shortly before 10 p.m. and walked directly to the back of the store where Eller was working. After a confrontation, Burton said, Devaisher shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself.

Burton added that more information will be released as it becomes available.
