Police investigating fatal shooting in NW Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City Police are investigating a fatal shooting from Sunday, April 7.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to a parking lot near N. Portland Ave. and NW 28th St. around 3 a.m. on Sunday regarding gunshots. Upon arrival, officers learned that four people had been shot.

LOCAL NEWS: Two firefighters injured in 57 Fire Saturday near Sharon

Officials say all four were transported to nearby hospitals where one passed away. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Carlin Hawthorne. The other three received non-life-threatening injuries.

According to OKCPD, officers discovered there was a fight in the parking lot that led to the gunfire. They believe Hawthorne was just an innocent bystander sitting in a nearby vehicle when she was struck by a bullet.

No arrested have been made as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200.
