Police investigating barricade in east Las Vegas valley

UPDATE: Las Vegas police said the suspect was taken into custody shortly before 3 p.m.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police are asking the public to avoid the area near an east Las Vegas valley neighborhood as they investigate a barricade situation.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said officers were called to the 2000 block of Palm Street near Boulder Highway and East Sahara Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday to investigate a domestic disturbance call.

According to police, a man is believed to be barricaded inside a residence there and is refusing to exit. Police did not say if the man was armed or not.

SWAT and Crisis Negotiators are on the scene to assist. Police ask that the public avoid the area due to a heavy police presence.
