Police investigate body found after Scottsdale house fire

A body was found Wednesday after a first-alarm fire engulfed a home in Scottsdale on Tuesday night.

Fire crews received reports of the blaze at about 8:58 p.m. and were dispatched to the scene near North 124th Street and East Shea Boulevard, according to fire Deputy Chief Adam Hoster.

The home was fully engulfed in flames, which caused crews to tackle fighting the fire from only the outside, Hoster said. Even though crews managed to extinguish the fire within the hour, a couple of cars near the home were also damaged by the flames, Hoster said.

The unidentified person was discovered at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday amid rubble, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Quon.

Police are waiting on an autopsy report from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office before releasing the identity of the person found.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Both Scottsdale police and fire departments were investigating and sifting through debris at the scene, Hoster said.

No other injuries were reported.
