UPDATE: 34-year-old Fond du Lac man taken into custody after roof standoff

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV)—The Fond du Lac Police Department has concluded the active standoff on South Hickory Street.

According to an update, a 34-year-old man was taken into custody by a SWAT team on the roof of International Paper.

Law enforcement and other authorities are clearing from the area and a further official press release is expected to be sent out in the near future.

UPDATE: Fond du Lac Police Department continue negotiations and evacuations

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – The Fond du Lac Police Department has provided an update on its Facebook page about the active situation on South Hickory Street.

Authorities say that negotiations with the individual have been ongoing for over two and a half hours as they attempt to peacefully resolve the situation.

The Fond du Lac Police Department is working with the impacted business and assisted with the evacuations of many employees.

The agency has deployed its Technology Response Group, a K9 Unit, Crisis Negotiation members, and mental health units.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac are reportedly dealing with a situation and say there is a large presence in the 900 block of South Hickory Street.

The Fond du Lac Police Department posted on its Facebook page that it is continuing to negotiate with a person on the roof of a building. Employees of the business are reportedly sheltering in place and are safe.

While police did not specifically say what building it was, the 900 block of South Hickory Street was mentioned in the release. The post also circled the International Paper building, which is in the 900 block of South Hickory Street.

There is a law presence of both law enforcement and fire/rescue in the area, according to authorities. The most recent update was at 11:57 a.m.
