Police fatally shoot man with knife in Stanislaus County, officials say

(FOX40.COM) -A man with a knife was fatally shot after he injured a Ceres police officer, according to the Ceres Police Department.

At around 11:40 a.m. on Friday, CPD said it responded to reports of a “man brandishing a knife” at a family member’s residence. Upon arrival, police said the man, who had a warrant out for his arrest for alleged assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, fled from police.

CPD said the man ran through several residential yards but was found hiding in a vehicle on a commercial property in the 3400 Block of 6th Street. The suspect was fatally shot as police attempted to arrest him. One officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
