According to the Ozark Police Department, Thomas and Jones were driving on South Union Avenue in Ozark when they hit an SUV traveling on the same road.

Jones who was riding in the backseat was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Officers say Thomas was under the influence of alcohol and was driving at an excessive speed at the time of the crash, which officials said led to the murder charges

He is currently held in the Dale County Jail with no bond set in his case.
