Police Find Bodies of Missing Washington State Couple More than a Month After they Vanished Allegedly Killed by Pair of Brothers

More than a month after they vanished, the bodies of a missing Washington State couple were recovered on Tuesday from a remote location north of Seattle, PEOPLE confirms.

Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend John Blaine Reed, 53, one of the two brothers suspected in their deaths, continues. Last week, U.S. Marshals officials took Tony Clyde Reed, 49, into custody.

The remains of both Patrick Shunn, 45, and his wife, 46-year-old Monique Patenaude, were located Tuesday near the couple's home, in an area of Oso, Washington, reads a statement from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

Shunn and Patenaude were last seen on April 11, according to the statement.

The statement claims investigators were able to locate the corpses using information given to them by Tony Clyde Reed.

Tony Clyde Reed was captured on May 16 near the United State's border with Mexico. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of premeditated first-degree murder and unlawful firearm possession.

Detectives believe the two brothers allegedly fled to Mexico after the alleged murders.

Police claim John lived in the same neighborhood as Shunn and Patenaude, and that the three had recently been involved in a property-based court dispute.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting autopsies on the remains and is expected to reveal the cause and manner of their deaths within the next few days.

Tony Clyde Reed's lawyer could not be reached for comment.
