AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) –  The son of former beloved Auburn Tigers assistant football coach Trooper Taylor and former standout football player at Auburn High School, Blaise Taylor, has been arrested in Utah for his alleged involvement in the poisoning death of his girlfriend and their unborn child in Nashville, Tennessee last year.

Taylor, 27, was apprehended by Deputy United States Marshals in Cache County, Utah, on March 14, following a Nashville grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of first-degree murder.

Taylor’s girlfriend, Jade Benning, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on March 6, 2023, her 25th birthday, according to investigators. She was rushed to the hospital via ambulance on the night of Feb. 25, 2023, after Taylor reportedly called 911 just after 9:30 p.m. and said Benning appeared to be having an allergic reaction. Benning’s medical condition immediately became critical and her 5-month-old fetus, whom Taylor is believed to have fathered, died on Feb. 27, 2023. Detectives were unable to interview Benning before she died.

The Tennessee Titans employed Taylor as a scout for four years, according to his LinkedIn.

Taylor was formerly employed as a senior defensive analyst at Utah State University. Taylor played at Arkansas State between 2014 and 2017 after he graduated from Auburn High School in Alabama where his dad coached at AU.
